Aditya Birla hospital

"The simplicity of design allows the complex needs of a hospital to be efficiently and effectively fulfilled at the Aditya Birla Hospital, Pune"

As it is proposed in a large, congested city, it is crucial to be able spot the hospital with ease. The Aditya Birla hospital has been designed as a landmark, easily identifiable from the main road.

The importance given to the different functions have dictated the way the hospital has been planned– the emergency area first, then the main hospital entrance and the OPD at the end laid out in a linear manner.

A covered atrium has been designed as a relaxing space for the relatives and friends of patients to ensure the main hospital area is not crowded. This creates a social space with a nice environment for visitors.

The patient wing is planned in the quietest part of the plot facing a forested area, whilst the emergency and procedure blocks is inter-connected so that the two departments may share facilities. The hospital is organized around a flexible system where each department is spacious and adaptable.
